When you hear the name Seattle you may think of Pike’s Place Market, Starbucks, grunge music, or the Seahawks but it’s home to some of the best golf courses in the country. Seattle is a golfers must visit the city not only because it has some of the best golf in the Pacific Northwest but it has some of the best food stops in the country.

Today we’re going to cover a few of the top golf courses in the Seattle area and the best spots to grab a bite to eat when you visit. Come join me on this adventure.

Now I know what you must be thinking, “Pax, doesn’t it rain like all the time up there?” Yes, and no. While it rains almost 9 months out of the year, that rain gives us the lush greens and fairways that keeps people getting out on the course in the Emerald City. And please if you visit Seattle, don’t bring an umbrella – just put your hood on.

First up on the tee, this course needs no introduction. A golfers must play if you’re coming to the city – Chambers Bay Golf Course.

1. Chambers Bay

Located about 30 to 45 minutes south of downtown Chambers Bay is a gem in Seattle and PNW as a whole. This is a course that is near and dear to my heart. I grew up 10 minutes down the road. I remember when the course was being built and when they announced that the US Open was coming into town. I even volunteered on the last day. I remember seeing some of the pros tee off, Jordan Speith sink that putt on 17, and the collective gasp when DJ missed that 3 footer.

When you think of Chambers Bay, you probably imagine sweeping views of Puget Sound, rugged terrain, and the epic test of golf that left a mark on players during the 2015 U.S. Open. But there’s a lot more to this place than just its championship status—it’s a Pacific Northwest gem, a true links experience that feels more like something you’d find in Scotland than right here in Washington.

Chambers Bay isn’t your typical American golf course. Built on an old sand and gravel quarry, it’s got massive dunes, wide fairways, and rolling greens that feel alive with every step. This course is all about creativity. You’re not just playing the layout; you’re working with the land, the wind, and those tricky undulating greens. Don’t be surprised if you end up facing a shot you’ve never seen before, thanks to the elevation changes and blind shots that make every round different. The views alone are worth it, with the Puget Sound backdrop giving you that classic Pacific Northwest vibe.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Pax, it’s in Washington—doesn’t it rain all the time up there?” Well, sure, but that’s what keeps Chambers Bay green and lush. Just bring a good rain jacket instead of an umbrella, and you’ll be fine. This place isn’t just about golf; it’s about getting outdoors, testing yourself, and soaking up everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Whether you’re there for the challenge or just to check it off the bucket list, Chambers Bay is a must-visit for anyone who wants a little adventure mixed into their golf game.
